  1. Knowledge on different storage techniques (DCA, ILOS, ULO CA) on how to prevent superficial scald for susceptible pome fruit cultivars.
  2. Although the technologies have been marketed commercially, the effect to control scald during the shipment periods on SA grown crops is lacking as other countries are close to their markets.
  3. The information as a result of this study will allow the pome fruit industry to secure exporting of fruit to EU because the technologies is chemical-free, can extends storage life of fruit, maintain quality of fruit, able to control superficial scald and secure economic growth and jobs.
