- Knowledge on different storage techniques (DCA, ILOS, ULO CA) on how to prevent superficial scald for susceptible pome fruit cultivars.
- Although the technologies have been marketed commercially, the effect to control scald during the shipment periods on SA grown crops is lacking as other countries are close to their markets.
- The information as a result of this study will allow the pome fruit industry to secure exporting of fruit to EU because the technologies is chemical-free, can extends storage life of fruit, maintain quality of fruit, able to control superficial scald and secure economic growth and jobs.
