An effective management strategy for Fusarium basal root rot (FBR) for onions. At this point in time, there is no effective management strategy for Fusarium basal rot (FBR) of onion. If phosphonates are effective in suppressing FBR, this will be the first time that growers will have an option for managing the disease. This will ensure improved quality of the final product, and the sustainability of exporting onions from this region. In the long run this can lead to job creation, higher quality of life, competitiveness and cleaner production.
