New phytosanitary pest and the danger of these pests closing down important markets, and the need for mitigation treatments, are of critical importance.

For most phytosanitary markets, plums need to be cold stored at -0.55°C for 24 consecutive days, if cold sterilization is the mitigation technology of choice. Normally dual-temperature plums can’t handle prolonged temperatures at -0.55°C, thus a combination of current technologies might lead to the optimal protocol needed for the export of these dual-temperature plums.
